I've seen them in my friend's apiary.  He doesn't recommend using it.  Based on his experience, it took much longer for bees to draw combs from the plastic foundation.  Same thing for wax foundation mixed with paraffin.  Bees don't seem to like it as much.

Thanks sa info. May nagbebenta kasi plastic wax foundation (not sure kung pati frames ay plastic).
As to the paraffin sa wax, I totally agree with you, pati wax moth ayaw patulan yung wax na may paraffin.

Hi n1nn0, with regards dun sa pag gamit ng plastic foundation (meron kase akong 1 pc dito, and I intend to use it as my mold para pag gawa ko ng wax foundation mold) Ask ko lang maski ba pahiran ng beeswax yung plastic wax foundation matagal din bang i-draw ng mga bees?  I also intend to buy some plastic foundations kase.  Smiley

We have been using plastic foundation into our hives here in baguio and based in our experience I can say that it is 100% success. Bees draw it well, Well plastics comes in different types. Some are prime with beeswax like what we are using in Canada before.  Baka walang prime ung ginagamit ng mga ibang beekeepers. One technique I learned from NZ is to prime it with  melted beeswax using a paint brush or paint roller.  Be sure that your hive is strong enough to draw it. Basic management lang at konting logic..

Plastics often introduce into the hives during the honey flow which is  a very good timing for the bees to draw and  produce wax. During  the strengthening season it is recommended that you have to feed your bees with thick sugar syrup if your are inserting new frames with wax or plastic foundation.

Plastic are good to use if you know what are you doing.  I  recommend it using the technique I have stated above.. Happy Beekeeping..
